Aussie Animal Rescue
Aussie Animal Rescue is an engaging observational series that takes the viewer into a world of remarkable and unusual animals, passionate rescuers, strong stories and stunning locations.
On the Western side of Australia there is a dedicated team of wildlife rescuers who are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year. With Australia having the worst mammal extinction rate in the world, the work of this remarkable team of people is becoming more and more important.
In dense bushland near the city of Perth, Kanyana Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre rescues, rehabilitates and releases injured and orphaned Australian wildlife. Dealing with well over a thousand cases a year, Kanyana has become one of the busiest wildlife rescue centres in Australia.
The emergency department is a constant pressured environment. In a single day, June and her team of 90 volunteers can receive up to 10 emergency calls. It is often a race against time not only to heal but also to release these animals back into the wild to give them the best chance of survival.
Each week, Aussie Animal Rescue takes the viewer to one of the most unique and spectacular natural world’s on the planet and reveal the strong bonds which form between humans and animals. Through the work at Kanyana and other specialised centres up and down the vast state of Western Australia, the fascinating world of Australian animals in need will be revealed. From kangaroos to dolphins, sharks to tiger snakes, kookaburras to whales. When the word goes out an animal needs help, the team are on their way to the rescue!
